About the project
Automotive retail combines several building types on one site. A showroom with large glazed openings and long clear spans, a service department with equipment loads and overhead requirements, parts storage, canopies over drive lanes and site structures throughout the lot.
Each of those has different steel requirements. Showroom framing frequently involves long span beams and moment frames to keep the glass uninterrupted. Service areas need equipment support, lift framing and taller clear heights. Canopies are exposed, weather facing and often the most visible steel on the property.
The governing constraint is usually the operation. Sales and service continue during construction, customer access must be preserved, and work is phased so no part of the business shuts down longer than agreed.
