Why buy the whole scope from one contractor

Steel packages get split more often than they should. A fabricator here, an erector there, a separate miscellaneous metals subcontractor, a railing specialist and someone else for the stairs. Each of those seams is a place where responsibility becomes negotiable.

When one company detailed the steel, made the steel, delivered the steel and set the steel, there is nothing left to argue about. That is the arrangement most experienced general contractors prefer, and it is how we are set up to work.

It also produces better steel. Our detailers know how our shop fabricates. Our shop knows how our crews erect. Decisions made at each stage account for the stage that follows, which is difficult to achieve across three separate companies with three separate incentives.

Not sure which service you need?

Plenty of projects do not map neatly onto a single service page. A tenant improvement might involve a mezzanine, a stair, an ADA correction and a seismic connection upgrade. A restaurant build out might need structural framing, exposed architectural steel and stainless kitchen support in one package.

Describe the project and we will tell you what it actually involves. If part of it belongs with a different trade, we will say so rather than stretching our scope to cover it badly.
