Both, and we prefer to do both on the same project. Detailing, fabrication, delivery and erection under one scope removes the coordination seam that causes most steel schedule problems. We will also fabricate only, or erect steel fabricated by others, when a project is already set up that way.

Our sweet spot is substantial commercial, industrial and institutional steel packages, including multi story frames, venue and stadium improvements, structured parking, distribution facilities, campus buildings and large custom residences. We also handle focused scopes such as a single stair tower, a mezzanine or a seismic retrofit.

All of San Diego County is our core market, from the South Bay and Otay Mesa through Downtown, the coastal cities and North County. We also serve Orange County, Riverside County, Los Angeles County and Imperial County, generally for larger fabrication and erection packages where the travel is justified by the scope.

Most complete commercial packages are priced in three to five business days. Budget pricing during design development is usually faster. Repair, retrofit and smaller scopes are often same week. Change order pricing on projects we are already building takes priority over new bids.

Yes, and this is where we save contractors the most money. Give us schematic or design development drawings and we will return budget tonnage, a price range and specific recommendations about frame system, bay spacing, connection type and coating strategy that move cost meaningfully while the design can still absorb the change.

Yes. Struc Steel, Incorporated holds California contractor license number 724066 and carries bonding and insurance appropriate to commercial and public work. Certificates of insurance, additional insured endorsements and bonding capacity confirmation are available at bid time.

Yes. We maintain the documentation practices that public work requires, including certified payroll coordination, formal submittals, welding procedure and welder qualification records and special inspection support. Tell us at bid time so the proposal reflects the actual administrative scope.

Carbon steel structural welding follows AWS D1.1, and stainless steel work follows AWS D1.6. Welders qualify to written welding procedure specifications appropriate to the joint, position and material. Qualification records and procedures are provided with submittals and made available to special inspectors.

Yes. AESS carries different expectations for member selection, weld appearance, surface preparation, tolerance and handling than ordinary structural steel. We fabricate to the exposure category the architect specified and we protect the finish through delivery and erection rather than treating it as a paint problem later.

Yes. Soft story bracing, moment frame additions, braced frame installation, column and connection strengthening, foundation anchorage improvements and diaphragm connection upgrades. Much of this work happens in occupied buildings, which we plan for specifically with phasing, containment and off hours work.

Yes. Certified welders are dispatched to your site for structural repair, field modification, corrosion remediation, damaged member replacement, railing repair and urgent structural response. For property managers and facility teams this is often the fastest path back to a safe, compliant condition.

Egress stairs, guardrails and handrails frequently carry deferred submittal requirements. We track those as their own milestones with their own approval timeline rather than folding them into the frame schedule and discovering the gap later.

Usually yes. We evaluate the existing material, confirm what can be determined about grade and condition, and coordinate with the engineer of record on connection approach where original documentation is incomplete. Renovation steel almost always includes some field verification, and we plan for it rather than assuming the as built drawings are accurate.

Structural drawings, architectural drawings where stairs, railings or exposed steel are involved, the relevant specification sections, the project location, your bid date and any prevailing wage, bonding or insurance requirements. If some of that is missing, send what you have and we will tell you what is still needed.

Yes. Hillside and canyon construction in San Diego County frequently requires steel for long spans, cantilevers, view corridors and moment frames. We also fabricate interior feature stairs, glass railing systems and exposed structural elements for high end residential projects.

You call us and we fix it. Our detailing and shop fit up process exists to prevent that, but construction is construction. What matters is that the responsible party is one phone call away rather than three subcontractors deep, which is one of the main reasons contractors prefer a combined fabrication and erection scope.
